The race began at 7:00 PM and is hailed as the most unique road course in Anchorage, which is mostly due to the portion of the run that navigates through Government Hill.

The run ended on the Delaney Park Strip in downtown Anchorage. The Delany Park Strip, or simply known as the Park Strip, is the oldest park in Anchorage and was established as part of the original township plat in 1917 and named for James Delaney, one of the first mayors of Anchorage. The Park Strip originally functioned as a firebreak between Anchorage and its neighboring forest. Interestingly, in 1922 the park became "The Golf Course" and an airstrip; however, after Merrill Field opened, the Delaney Park airstrip was no longer necessary. Since 1954 the Park Strip has been used for a variety of activities, community events and festivals.
and winners in each division won a growler of beer from Broken Tooth Brewing Company (no, Matt nor I won our division...ha!)...

All runners who completed the race were awarded with pizza from Moose's Tooth Pizza...
...and beer from Broken Tooth Brewing at the end of the race?! A major bonus!
Matt and I agree that this is our most favorite race of the summer and an excellent way to start the summer running season.
Rio was a little bummed dogs weren't allowed on the run...but was still excited to see us when we arrived home.
I hope you had a great weekend! Cheers to June!
